What is Christianity?

This may be one of the most misunderstood subjects today.   There are many flavors of Christianity in the world today, so confusion does abound and understandably so.  It has to do with various teachings in different churches, all from the same Bible, but it also has to do with our perceptions of the world around us.   All of us, to some degree or another, filter the church through our personal views, how we were raised, educated, which form our attitudes and beliefs.   Some view the church as somewhere they should be, but do not attend regularly.   Others view it from a political standpoint and still others have a great disdain for the church, while many view it with confusion as to what it is really suppose to be.

This is not limited to our present time, it existed in the first century at the time of Christ.    When Jesus was given over to the Roman Governor, Pontius Pilate in the middle of the night, Pilate questioned Jesus about his Kingdom and Jesus told him that his Kingdom was not of this world and that was the purpose that He (Jesus) had come into the world.   Jesus then told Pilate  ‘… Everyone who is of the truth hears my voice’.   Pilate then said to Jesus:   ‘What is truth?’.

That is a fair question:   What is the truth?    The series of articles following are short essays, just a few paragraphs on the truth given by the one who gave us Christianity, Jesus Christ.    As Jesus said, the one who is of the truth hears my voice.   These short essay’s will be taken directly from the teachings of the New Testament and will reflect various aspects of Christianity.   We hope these give you a deeper understanding of Jesus, of Christianity and the church.   We thank you for reading these and please come with us on our journey of love in God’s kingdom.
